Hot Aussie group KILLING HEIDI joined us in the AOL Live auditorium to chat about their performances at the 2001 Goodwill Games and their plans for the future.

KillingHeidiLive:  Hello everyone...

Question:  Hi when r u gonna release the 2nd cd?
Adam:  Early next year.
Jesse:  Hopefully a single before next xmas.

Question:  Who do you class as your music influences?
Jesse: Many diverse artists such as Tool, Hendrix, Joni Mtchell, Placebo, Smashing Pumkins, Hole...
Warren: Nirvana... Bay City Rollers ;)
Adam: AC/DC, Fear Factory, The Beatles.

Question:  I saw you guys at Pushover in about '96. How long ago did you start playing together?
Ella: Bbout then, that was our first real gig outside Violet Town - 1995, I guess.

Question:  Do you have any performances planned after the GWG? (Good Will Games)
Jesse:  We're going back into the studio to finish the album before heading back out on the road.

Question:  What is the band's favourite song that you play?
Warren: Real People
Jesse: Animal Style
Ella: Leave Me Alone or Superman Supergirl
Adam: A Jar Labelled Small

Question:  When you guys hit it big in the USA, not that you haven't already, but will you stay Australian based?...I hope so!
KillingHeidiLive:  YES!!!!
Adam:  Refer to Peter Allan - we still call Australia home!!!

Question:  Hi guys and gal...first I wanna say that u guys are the bomb and I was wondering if fame has changed any of u even the slightest bit???
Ella: Hopefully in good ways.
Jesse: I guess we can't deny that we have been affected, but hopefully it has made us better people.

Question:  Hi - Warren, who do you think is the best bass player around at the moment (besides you ;))?
Warren: Larry Graham from Sly and the Family Stone.

Question:  Will you do a concert here in Bris?
KillingHeidiLive:  Tomorrow night.
Ella: Can't wait to get back to Brissy for a proper tour, but there might have to be a wait.

Question:  Can we expect to hear the same sorta stuff on ur next ablum as ur 1st? or sumthin totally different?
Adam: It will be as eclectic as Reflector, but we feel a bit more mature as we've all grown.
Ella: More inspired.

Comment:  Killing Heidi is most definitely the best band ever in the history of the universe!

Question:  Adam and Warren is it hard being in a group with a brother and sister? Do they fight much? ;)
Adam: No
Warren: Yes

Question:  Where did you get the name "Killing Heidi" from?
Ella: we thought of it a long time ago and it's about the juxtaposition of the light and dark.

Question:  Where are you doing this chat?
Ella: AOL Central, Goodwill Games Global Village, Southbank, Brisbane

Question:  How old are you all?
Adam: Collectively or individually?
Ella: 18
Jesse: 20
Adam: 25
Warren: Legal.

Question:  When will u tour in Australia?
Jesse: When the new record is finished we will tour again, but you'll have to wait.

Question:  What do you class as an 'ultimate' song?
Jesse: Home Again by Shihad
Warren: One that stands the test of time.
Ella: One that moves you again and again whenever you listen to it.
Adam: It's gotta make me go YEEAAAHH!! to inspire emotion.

Question: What inspired you to write Weir?
Ella: Growing up in the country, swimming in the local weir and having childhood friends around... memories I guess

Question:  What do you like to do when you're not working?
Adam: I don't know what to do when I'm not working. I work so hard I dont know what to do [when I get home for a break].
Ella: I enjoy music probably more than anything, other things I like are painting and dancing, and hanging out with my friends mainly.
Warren: PS2 and nothin' - favourite game is GT3.
Jesse: PS2, fishing, candlelit dinners,  water sports, boxing in my spare time despite being a lover not a fighter...

Question:  When is your next tour overseas...?
Jesse: We won't be touring overseas until we finish the record next year.

Question:  Do you prefer playing in smaller venues, like pubs or large concert halls?
Ella: It all rocks - whatever we can get. Arenas like last night are cool, but we also enjoy backyards.

Question:  Ella: did u like singing when u were younger?
Ella: Yep, you couldn't shut me up... any song on the radio.... anything.

Question:  Where did your band meet?
Adam: We all met in Melbourne.
Ella: We all come from varied backgrounds, but Melb brought us together.
Adam: Melbourne is the glue of rock and roll!
Warren: St Kilda Centrelink ;)

Question:  What type of guitars do you play?
Jesse: Frawley Maton - made in Australia and fantastic local products that I recommend to all guitarists.
Warren: 69 Fender Jazz, everyone's favourite.

Question:  What football team do u support?
Adam: The West Coast Eagles
Ella: The Melbourne Demons
Warren: The Brisbane Broncos
Jesse: The Demons... next year my friends

Question:  Are u all married or single?
Jesse: Happily say I'm unattached, thank God.
Warren: Married 4 times!
Adam: I have a suger mama :)

Comment:  Hi Adam - just wanted to say ur a hottie, love Tanya.
Adam: G'day Tanya, thanks.

Question:  Do u think that u will keep your dread locks?
Jesse: Mmnnn yeah, I'm trying to work out a plan, which is currently to let it grow. No plans to change that yet.

Question:  Did you all do music @ school or lessons and stuff???
Warren: No.
Ella: No.
Jesse: Only in high school.
Ella: I did sing in the primary school choir.

Comment:  Hi there, I saw you guys play at the Big Day Out in Sydney, and I just gotta say you rock! You were the reason I wanted to go in the first place. Limp Bizkit are good, but not THAT good.

Warren: That's right!
Ella: Thanks for digging it.

Question: What junk food do u survive on out on the road?
Ella: Dim sims and chicken Twisties.
Adam: The dirty bird: KFC.

Question:  Do any of you have any annoying habits?
Ella: Yes all of us.
Jesse: I snore loudly.
Ella: I talk and talk and talk.
Adam: I break like the wind!

Question:  Ella, do you remember after your concert at the Music Expo last year in Sydney 2 girls going crazy in a red car when we realised it was you? Love you Ella.
Ella: Yes. That was a great day, wasn't it?!

Question:  How do you get psyched up for a gig?
Warren: Jack Daniels.
Ella: Red Bull helps.
Jesse: A new energy drink called Pitsy, it's only available in the US.

Question:  How did it feel to perform in front of so many people at the Opening Ceremony?
Adam: Absolutely nerve wracking, I was shaking like a leaf, but it was the best thing.

Question: You like chatting online?
Ella: Yes.

Question:  Ella, what is your most memorable gig?
Ella: With Killing Heidi, Big Day Out Melb., 2000.
Jesse: That was a good show...
Ella: It was my birthday.

Question:  What is your stance on Napster (and related sites)?
Adam: They're cool, but if an artist's music is being released without the artist being satisfied that the fans are getting the best quality, then that ain't right.

Question:  Jesse: what sort of hair dye do you use?
Jesse: Fudge, it's Australian and they gave me some free hair dye. Red Corvette is the colour.

Question:  What is the best part about singing and write music how ever u like?
Ella: I think we love it because it gives us a way to express what we want to express and we still get paid for it.

Question: All: what would have 2 be your fav song out at the moment?
Ella: I like Bootylicious by Destiny's Child and Get Your Freak On.
Adam: The Grudge by Tool.
Warren: Strawberry Kisses.
Jesse: Me too!!

Question:  If you guys weren't musicians what would you be doing?
Jesse: Garbage man.
Warren: Dying.
Ella: Travelling acrobat in a carnie.
Adam: I have no idea...lifting heavy things.

Question:  Do u have friends in other bands?
Ella: We love the other bands and we hope they love us too - except for Bodyjar ;)

Question:  At what stage in your lives did you decide you wanted to be famous?
Ella: Never.
Jesse: We just want to play music and hopefully sustain ourselves doing that.

Question:  What advice do u guyz have to people wanting to start bands???
Jesse: Persist, don't take no for an answer.
Ella: Be original and do your own thing.
Adam: Refer to Nike: just do it!!

Question:  Do your families like the type of music that you play?
KillingHeidiLive: Yeah!
Ella: They are big fans even though their musical tastes probably differ from ours.
Warren: They do now.
Adam: Even though my mum really likes Slayer, she's finally come round.
